That could be a blessing in disguise, sounds like an issue you should be taking up with the Real Player websites support section, personally I think Real Player sucks bigtime, it tries to take over your computer and is literally a pain in the ass, I use the Real Player Plugin for Windows Media Player(Real Alternative 1.23), which lets Windows Media Player playback Real Player files, I provided a link to the download site below, also there is a Quicktime Plugin(QuickTime Alternative 1.33) for WMP also.

See, I told you from the very begining to install Windows fresh. THAT would fix the date problem and you would be abel to install the Real Player to see all the bad stuffz on the net.
..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

No, that would NOT fix the date problem unless you noticed it was wrong during setup and fixed it. Windows does not automatically update the date / time during an install... it has to be done manually. It only retrieves the info from CMOS during setup.
If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.
I do an ghost image 10 minutes "fix", I don't do full reinstall, but anyway, what kind of user will not pay attention to the install process, that is THE most important thing (unless you is stupid)
