Okay, maybe this don't belong here, but I'm afraid to go into other forums hehe
Take a look at this flatpanel display from SGI. It's got some kickass specs (18.1", 1280x1024 etc), but the neatest thing is that it has a "Built-in scaler adjusts input resolutions to the screen size."
I mean, how cool is that? I've never seen a flat panel that could do that before
If my baby don't love me, I know, I know, her sister will.
If I had the money and a place to put it I would buy it.
First off I have to win the lottery.
A nice cool 10 million northern pesos. AKA Canadian Dollars.
Then I would have to quit my job.
I would set up my parents, sister, inlaws etc. with a nice tidy sum. Enough to pay off mortgages and debts.
Build a house back home. A four bedroom house with a nice yard.
Buy two new cars. One for me the other for the wife. Nothing too extravegent. Nice little domestic made models. Particularly fond of Chevy and Dodge.
Build a cottage to vacation at.
Then I look at buying that monitor.
The only problem is I don't buy lottery tickets. I see them as a waste of hard earned money that I could put to better use.
So it looks like I will not be buying that monitor.
Wigged out a few times.
But I went outside for a while with the kids and bought some cheapo five and dime store toys for them.
I also went to crappy shack (Radio Shack) and bought Norton System Works for the new laptop.
The laptop is in "transit"! Looks like Thursday is the big delivery day.
I'm sorry, but those specs aren't anything special (in fact they're quite bad by today's standards). The brightness I actually like, cause I don't like bright displays. The contrast is 300:1, where as many displays now, using technologies like PVA, MVA, and to a certain extent TN+ have 500:1 contrast. Furthermore, its response time is 40ms, which is far too high.....most lcd's have 25ms now, and viewsonic is releasing a 17 inch and 21 inch w/ 16 and 11ms response times, respectively. The viewing angle is ok. Now to the 22". U could never get me to buy it, primarily b/c teh viewing angle's 130º! Hell, it's so low teh sides and top/bottom will be seriously discolored. Finally, there is a flat panel section. I'm sorry, but I think you've been taken by the name....now let's hope my dad doesn't somehow see this cause he owns part of SGI... hehe
