Non-working computer for repair- $200

Forum Deals : Classifieds Non-working computer for repair- $200

Hey guys you might remember me as the guy who was asking about how to build a water cooling system with the perfect parts. Anyway, if you don't here's the point.

In January i've built a new computer costing around a grand to replace my old Dell Dimension 3000 desktop. All the parts are working fine, but the motherboard wasn't working so i was tinkering with it and accidentally took out the little capacitor that controls the start switch on the computer. The power supply, processor, cooling fan, heatsink, memory, hard drive, pretty much everything works and can be extracted for use in another computer. Basically the motherboard is the only part not working.

Here are the parts in detail:

An intel pentium 4 processor with 3.0 GHz clock.
LGA775 Heatsink
80mm cooling fan
Two sticks of 256mb DDR PC-3200 memory
a 40GB IDE hard drive
300w dell power supply.

The price for all this is $200 which i think is a good price considering all that you are getting but the price is negotiable. I can't sell at ebay at the moment since i am only 16 and i don't have a bank account. I can accept cash or a check. I'll give my dad the check to take to the bank and if it clears then I'll send the computer. If you wan't to pick it up personally I am living in Queens, New York in the five boroughs. For those who want it shipped it will be shipped via USPS in a flat rate box with all the foam peanuts you can enjoy! I can also send the parts separately without the Dell Case, which is easier for me. If you want this i'll discount 20 dollars off the price.

For more info call me at 1718-322-3861 or email me at thejokerrr@gmail.com. Thanks for looking.

I don't think you're going to get $200 for it. P4 dell systems are a dime a dozen in working condition... the last non working dell system I ebayed only went for like $15+ shipping.

You might try craigslist

Lucky me, I actually have an identical system.. I have a optiplex gx620 that had the hard drive go out on friday, replaced it... reinstalled windows. Working perfect. I goto windows update and it wants to install XP SP3, cool..

Computer reboots after it finishes SP3 install and will not boot. It gives me the kind of alarm it does if there is the wrong type of ram installed..> cpu (3ghz pent 4 ht) and ram are both fine, hard drive is fine.

So... i'm going to sell the cpu and ram, give away the case w\ mobo / psu or maybe sell for $5 if i can, and keep the XP Professional COA because I probably will find a home for it in my office at some point.

Now, the fix for this is that I bought an optiplex 745 a few weeks ago for $90. It has a core2 E6300, 2gb, no hard drive and no cd rom... but i just put the hdd from the other in it, and its a VM ware machine so no cd rom is needed.

You wouldn't believe the crap people put up on craigslist for exorbitant prices where i live.

You might actually be competitive there, but i don't think you will be on a well educated computer forum.

I sold my working Pentium 4 system (2GHz) for $40.

i said that price was negotiable so any1 who would be interested could just name their price and i'll try to work with what i can. Although if you want to buy the system for 20 bucks you will have to pay shipping.

I didn't want to trash your thread, but used PC sales are just... insane now. 18 months ago I was buying dell systems on ebay and reselling them for profit but it's not possible anymore because they're all so cheap.

Even core2duo dell systems are floating around ebay at like... $80-150 if you look around.

Put it up on craigslist and put OBO, see what you get.

im fine with that. If you know any1 who needs computer parts just tell him i'll giv him the whole thing for 100 bucks alright? And he'll hav to pay shipping.

BWT what does OBO mean?

Is the E6300 a Wolfdale or the Core2 Duo (you stated core2). I ask since I'm looking to upgrade the PentiumD in my 745 and found the Wolfdale much less expensive than the Core2 Duo but I don't believe it will work with the Q963 chipset.

There is a Core2Duo E6300 that uses a Conroe core @ 1.86GHz and a PentiumDualCore E6300 that uses the Wolfdale core @ ~2.8GHz.

The Pentium Duals, clock per clock, are beter to the Conroe core2s with the same cache, and are equal to the Conroe core2s that have more cache. So the PentiumDual E6300 is far superior.

The PDual needs 45nm support, whereas the Core2 is just 65nm. How much are you looking at?

Needs to be 65nm from all the research I've done on the Optiplex 745.
