I keep getting the following error message when I try to
use certain CD's.
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application."

I searched the knowledge base and found a relevant
solution, but could not follow it.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

That is the solution that I found in the Microsoft database, but had problems
following it. Is there an easier to understand version anywhere?

Thanks

Pretty much the whole article, it seemed rather vague to me.
This is what I had problems with;
step 4 - after pressing enter for each command, is a message meant to be
displayed? If so, what?
steps 7 + 11 - Is it OK to copy and paste this into a notepad doc rather
than type it? If it is mistyped, what happens?
steps 14 + 16 + 18 - What is the exact location of the files that need to be
replaced? I have no idea?

Thanks
Sonia

You should see a message (if the file is successfully extracted or not)

Yes.

Why do you want to mistype??

As given in the article, the system32 folder.

NOTE: Read line 5 which states "Start or install the program. If the issue
is resolved, do not complete the remaining steps. "

Step 4 did not work.
What file do I copy for the Command.com file? The article only shows how to
make new Autoexec and Config files.
Thanks

Forgot something. Is the exact location of the system32 folder
c:\windows\system32
I did a computer search and found 2 of them so I thought I should make sure
I had the right one.

Thanks again
