Q: Am I selecting a Good MoBo and PowerSupply?

I am rebuliding my PC and am looking at the Asus A7S333 and a Athlon 1800xp chip, 256mb 2700ddr, and a 400w power supply. I found a 400w PowerMax supply for $15, but heard that PowerMax will toast your machine. Can anyone confirm this.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive, yet reliable Power Supply?

Is the Asus A7S333 MoBo any good?

Thanks All!

Yo K,

I had a 500 watt PowerMax PSU..... I got better +5 & +12 volt ratings off my 431 watt Enermax PSU, & my system stays cooler with the better fan design. The PowerMax PSU still runs, but I put it in my GF's mom's system.

For cheap PSU's, the cheapest I will go is Heroichi Electronics 350 watt PSU w/ dual fans for $44 @ newegg.com.

About the A7S333, I don't know much about this mobo, but most people are happy with the MSI 745 Ultra which uses the same chipset as the Asus mobo. How much are you going to spend on the A7S333 mobo? The MSI 745 Ultra goes for around $70. Good Luck

Peace Out...................tile2

Why do you want to believe me?

I just got an L&C 350 watt from dealsonic for only $17.95 shipped. It's very quiet, and the readings are excellent. But if you don't mind the extra noise, I also recommend a dual fan design. Newegg has an alied/foxcon for $36, or an enlight for $46.

I had not thought that far yet. I have not over clocked since the old days of jumper over clocking. I just have no idea how to over clock now a days. Plus, I am not sure if the performance increase would be noticeable

How does this relate to the Power Supply?
