My future system is going to be a 2100 XP running on a A7N8X board. I was gonna get that OCZ EL3500 (2x256) sticks of memory. As I been reading, people are saying that the speed of the memory is faster than that combo can run. Could I save money and get slower ram?

One solution was to overclock the processor. Well I never overclocked and I wont feel safe in doing so. (although reading how so many people do.. who knows) If I were to overclock, how could I do so safely? I was gonna get the retail version of the CPU and just use the the pad that comes on the heatsink. I just need a small run-down if anyone can. Thanks

The DDR400+ ram is mainly for overclocking and/or a future upgrade to a 400MHz DDR FSB barton processor.

The A7N8X already supports barton's FSB speed and its' multipliers. But just to make sure, I would check periodcially for BIOS upgrades.

So do you think I should still get that memory? (I plan on getting a Barton (much) later (like when it is oh say.. affordable? )

I would get the OCZ PC3500 Enhanced Latency (EL) memory. Three areas that you should never try to shave dollars off in: motherboard, power supply and memory.

NEVER, EVER go cheap on the hard drive... I'm not talking capacity, but quality and performance. THAT's the bottleneck you'll have to live with.
