Hello gods of computer knowledge...
I call upon thee yet again in my quest
to help me build a new computer system!!!

So here it is:
I have read a couple posts which vaguely mention
problems between the A7N8X board and Win2K.
The main one I am concerned with involves
Windows 2000 always setting DMA modes to PIO?
Is this a myth?
Has anyone experiences problems with this OS/Mobo combo?
Please impart your wisdom upon me.
I have sacrificed two goats and a virgin in your honor!!!
Thanks!

nVidia has just released a new update for the nForce2 including the IDE fix. Hopefully this should solve your problem.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS aw1001g.bin.
I have WIN2000 on mine, most issues solved with
this change in BIOS. I still have gotten a couple
of hangs when loading the operating system, which
have required taking the signal cable off of one
device (I have 4, 2 on each cable, plus the C drives
on a raid controller on the pci bus)to clear it. Reboot
hot or cold didn't do it. Disconnect, reboot, shutdown,
reconnect, reboot and anything is back and running.
Don't ask why this happens or why this proceedure clears it
