Went to the VZW store today, even though the VZW website (and store display
placard) and LG website says the LG VX3200 is tri-mode, the salesman
insisted it was not. I suspect he thought it was not because the price
point is lower than the LG VX4500 which is not tri-mode?
If anyone can confirm that the VX3200 is analog capable for fringe areas,
and has a mobile office kit / laptop data cable, I would appreciate it!

My first choice was the Nokia 3589i but salesman said there was no data
cable kit for it. VZW website says it is "NationalAccess" capable, so I
would think there is a data cable kit?

BTW, he sold me a Samsung SCH-a650 which is clearly tri-mode. First
observation, backlighting of keypad not as good as the LG VX4500 my friend
has, and no clock on the outside of the flip.... I think I'm gonna return
it within the 15 days...

There is a cable; I have one. Go to the Nokia site. I'm pretty sure
that's where I ordered mine.

Are you able to access in 1xRTT data mode? Salesman implied that even if I
got the cable somewhere else, the VZW mobile office kit software would not
work with a "non-supported" phone.

Thanks.

I was getting excited about the VX 3200 but it appears that VZW doesn't
provide a mobile office kit a.k.a. data cable and 1xRTT data support for
it....
