I am replacing my current system with new stuff:
P4 3.06
Asus P4T533-C
512MB 1066 RAMBUS

I am keeping everything else in there (hdds, video, sound)
I have Windows XP home...
So the question is Do i need to format the hdd that windows is on and reinstall or not?
Thanks a lot

btw...Current system parts being replaced are:
P4 2.4b
Asus P4S8X
768MB pc2100 DDR266
Don't call me stupid for upgrading...these old parts are going into a new computer.

Have you ordered these components yet?

In every case I've seen, the OS needed to be reinstalled. I suggest you back up your data to removable media and do a clean install of windows xp.

Yes, i have ordered the parts. They should be in today some time. I figured that i should probably reinstall windows just to be safe anyways. Plus its always nice to clean up and start over
Thanks

P4S8X is an awesome mobo. Of course, it doesn't support hyperthreading which is the only reason im getting a new one. Had a little trouble until SiS came out with new AGP drivers, but now its stable as anything. If SiS had an 8x AGP chipset w/ hyperthreading it would be my choice of a board.

The specs sound great, but all I read about is people having problems. Did you ever run fast ram (333,400)with it? You said you were using 266.

Good to hear that someone is having a good experience with this mobo.

well, the mobo only officially supports max. of ddr333. I never went higher than 266 because I was fine with its performance (great).
