More Information

Hi

I just bought a KD7 non raid Abit motherboard and I'm experiencing lots of problems.

- the system hangs for 30 secs at Win Xp pro startup, then HDD starts working.
- Once in a while, USB seems to shut down and all USB periphericals stops working.
- When I try to restart or shut down, computer hang and I have to either Reset or shut down manually.
- I also expericence some unexpected reboot without any error messages (Win XP auto reboot option is turned off).

Config :

Abit KD7 (ViaKT400 chip) (New)
Athlon 1000 (133)
256 DDR 333 Ram (new)
HDD Maxtor 80Gb 7200 ata 133 (new)
USB speedtouch Alcatel modem (ADSL)
Ge force 2 Mx 400
SB live value
Additionnals USB ports are not used.

Bios config:

I updated bios to the last version (XXXX-C8).
On chip Lan and audio are disabled.
Usb 2.0 is disabled (tryed both settings)
Irq is assigned to USB (tryed both settings)

Drivers config:

All drivers for motherboard are the last published by VIA (IDE Usb etc...)
Via USB filter for win 2000/xp is installed.
All others drivers, Geforce, SB etc are up to date

OS: Win XP Pro Service pack 1 (all partitions are NTFS).

HDD or memory might cause the startup hang, but I tested both and they seems to be working perfectly.
Plus the USB issue definetly seems to be motherboard related.

Any help, comments or ideas about any of these issues are most welcome.

Thx you

PS: Please excuse any english mistakes but as you have probably guessed English is'nt my motherlanguage.
