Two configurations:
Asus P4PE
P4 2.4GHz
512MB DDR333

Asus A7N8X deluxe
AMD XP 2200
512MB DDR333

This is the maximum (at a good price) that spanish shops can offer me.
I would like to know the maximum possibilities to upgrade this systems within one year without change the motherboard.
Thanks.

Yes, I think so but what is the best CPU that I could connect in each mobo? P4PE supports HT and maybe 3GHz+ and A7N8X... AMD is going to change the socket to 754 for the new Athlon 64, then the best CPU will be XP 2800.

well the problem is that you'll never really know how much or who will change their chip architecture in the next year or two. It's always an assumption. As for me, I just got my hands on the A7N8X, I'm waiting for my new ram,but I'm sticking with my 1700+ and Geforce3 Ti200 for now. In 6 months or less I expect to get a 2400/2600(or even higher) for the 100-150 range. My slow old 1700 is still quick enough, and I'm hoping this new board, will put a little more life into my 1700. Whatever you buy now, will be cheaper, slower, and be outgunned in a few months. Spend as little as you can, and get the best you can in price/performance from either Intel or AMD. I hate looking 'back' and seeing the processor I bought for 400 a few months ago selling for 200.

 Save heating costs on your home, overclock your PC!!!

Get the P4.It will be faster and you could upgrade it at least to 3,2Ghz.(I remember reading that 3,6Ghz will be the limit to 533 bus CPUs)
