Making me crazy! When I re-installed XP after a major crash, It always
either starts search companion or virus scan. To open directory, I have to
remember to right-click and then select Open.

Brilliant! Sanity is restored - ish. Appreciate the quick response. Glad it
wasn't something small I could have figured out myself - was feeling rather
silly.
