Sometimes when I install a program, it places an icon down in the
lower right corner of my screen next to the time display, and puts
this icon on every user's desktop. These icons seem to represent
something that has launched, as they pop up in sequence as the desktop
settles after the computer is turned on. Unlike the kinds of
shortcuts that may appear on the main part of the desktop, a
right-click on these icons down in the lower bar doesn't provide any
menu choice of deletion. How can I eliminate these without
uninstalling the underlying program, which I may want to use
occasionally, just not every time I turn on the computer (e.g.
QuickTime, Windows Messenger, MusicMatch Jukebox)?
