I'm getting a new AMD board and think this is the one. I've got a few generic sound cards, but want to upgrade to 5.1. I don't need 2 nics, or firewire. My only real advantage of the deluxe board would be the better onboard sound. How much better is it? How does it compair to SB 5.1 sound cards, how much better is the Auduxy or whatever sound card?

Supposedly the onboard 5.1 is about equal to an SB Live; some say the Audigy is a bit better but probably not worth the money.

If you want 6.1, go for an Audigy 2 or another add-in. Otherwise, I'd just go with the Deluxe onboard unless you have high-end PC speakers. On a $100 PC 5.1 system, I hear the onboard is just fine.

I just got my system back with the A7N8X Deluxe MB and I think it is the way to go. I don't need a LAN card, soundcard, it has the 4 USB 2.0 ports on the board and adapter for firewire so not only is it a great board but it leaves alot of room for future expansion! The sound is very good and nVidia gives you a nice nForce Control Panel (like a graphic equalizer) that you can use to tailor the sound to your ears.

It gets my vote!

I would go deluxe. I believe the sound is different on the non deluxe version.

The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.
