Has anyone tried Lair for PS3 with the new control pack?

I never bought the game (mostly because of the scathing reviews) but I saw the PS store is offering a control update. At the same time my local target is bargain binning Lair at $19.99.
Does the contrlo pack make the game more playable? or is it still a lemon?
