A little question about the task bar icons.

Hi, when I pin items to my task bar and launch it, the icon would turn into a tab wherever the icon was located. If the icon was in between other quick launch icons, it'd push the other icons aside to make room for the tab.

What I'm wondering is if there's a way to separate the icons from the tabs. I want my icons to stay together to the right of the Start menu button and my tabs of opened windows to the right of the icons.

Is this possible?

I sincerely apologize if what I'm asking made absolutely no sense what so ever.

Thank you.

Make sure the taskbar is unlocked, then right-click on it and select Toolbars -> New Toolbar. Pick or create an empty folder to hold the Toolbar (it doesn't matter where it is).

Once you've created the toolbar you can right-click it to control whether the toolbar and/or icon names are displayed (you probably don't want the icon names displayed) and you can drag shortcuts onto it which will be shown as icons. You can also drag the toolbar to the left end of the taskbar so it appears to the left of the opened window icons.
