I am looking to upgrade my system mostly for gaming but I am getting lost in all the choises of motherboards.
Which board would be the best for me I am looking at two different boards.
1. Asus P4T533-C I850E rimm 533Mhz
2. ASUS P4S8X/LAN/AGP8X/ATA133 ATX Sis648 skt478 DDR333 (Audio/USB2.0/LAN)

or are there better boards for the same $$

Thanks in advance

Personally, I'd stay away from both of those boards and go with an 845PE based motherboard. Intel has abandoned Rambus memory for the desktop, so that's kind of a dead duck (watch the flames from all the Rambus fans!) The SiS chipset is OK, but there have been some issues with performance and stability on that chipset. The 845PE boards perform extremely well and are very cheap... probably a better choice right now.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the 648 chipset. It's the P4S8X that's the problem.

I agree... I actually run the earlier 645DX chipset on one of my machines and it's great! I just think that now-a-days the PE chipset is the best P4 alternative.

Wasn't it the Asus P4S8X board where they flashed to a later BIOS and the memory performance went down dramatically? That's the type of thing that's giving the 648 chipset a bad name!
