They are just shortcuts - as long as you know where the documents are
actually, yes - it is safe.

You mean from the start menu? Sure, they are just shortcuts to the actual
files.

Hi

You can clear the Recent Documents list, yes. The files will still be left
on your hard disk/partition. If you are clearing via the folder, please
don't delete the folder itself, just files in it.
