ok so I dont really know the hardware in my computer, but I know I have like 5GB of ram and a really good nvidia graphics card. But when I play oblivion from what I can tell its the frames that are going too fast, the FPS. I dont know how to change it or do anything to help. Sound is messing up its going so fast, the combat has no sound, which seems to come later after the attack, and my character runs rediculously fast.
help!

You can download a program called fraps that will tell you your actual frames per second.

Not that high frames per second in video games can have an impact on sound.

Games arent like a movie where theres a set number of frames and if you play more frames per second you speed up the action. On a PC game the time take for a character to take a foot step is set by the program, the frames per second will determine how many "frames" are displayed during that time period of taking a single step.

Under performing systems can lead to things taking longer than they should but "over performing" systems will not mess up timing.

Your characters run speed is determined by your characters attributes NOT by how many frames per second you are showing the game at. (an underperforming system can slow a character down but no amount of processing power is going to speed it up past design speed)

Id guess you are having some sort of compatibility issues causing the sound issues or a general CPU problem.

Some more specifics on your hardware and operating system would help.

well. You dont really understand. The game is like lagging. And hey, I know attributes and stuff like that. I am a big ES fan. What I am experiencing is not normal. My character in the begining moves at an incredibly fast speed. I dont know what to do....

Im guessing that an error message pops up asking for permision to report the fault to microsoft / bethesda

We are going to need this error message pal, along with the above info.

Its impossible for a game to go too fast; something else is going on. But until you list your system specs, no one can help you.

I'm having the same problem. Specs are...e8500@3.2, 4870x2, 4GB@1066. With Vsync on or off, FPS clamped or unclamped everything is, as the OP described, "sped up". I'll be walking at a smooth 60FPS but the char is walking faster than usual. The easiest way to tell is by crouching which happens in a split second. So the game is going too fast. Though I don't have much experience with CCC but...

This is the most ridiculous thread. More like you don't understand. It's lagging, but incredibly fast? Those are complete opposites dude. I hope this is just some guy trolling, otherwise I think you're hopeless.

the game has a fps limiter, to 60FPS, so you cant go above it no matter what unless you manually disable the vertical sync

some sound cards have trouble with oblivion, especially in vista
