Problem Setting Up Computer!

I'm putting together a new system and have run across a slight problem. It seems that when I power on the computer, the monitor doesn't recognize that the computer's on, nothing shows up on the screen. Now, mind you, I've determined that its not the monitor, and its not the video card, as I have swapped both out into another system and both work fine. In addition I swapped another video card into the new system and the same problem existed. I have also tried two different hard drives. The system powers on, all the fans and the hard drive begin to spin, but the power button on the case and reset button do nothing when I press them.

I was able to get the computer to work fine at first, but then I changed some of the settings in the BIOS and the computer suddenly shut down a little bit later. After that I was unable to get it up again. However before that all the power buttons worked fine and I was able to view what was happening on the monitor.

Is this a problem with the BIOS or something to that affect? If so, do you know of anyway to physically reset everything to the way it was shipped. I'm using a BioStar M7VIP motherboard, the manuel is rather slim and therefore provided no help, neither did the company's website. Or could it perhaps be something else? Maybe a defective motherboard that I should ship back to New Egg? Any suggestions or comments about my problem are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you need to clear the cmos and then it will work fine....anytime you make an adjustment in the bios that makes the computer not boot (ie when overclocking etc..) you will need to clear the cmos in order for it to boot....or you can remove the battery on the board for about five mins and put it back in either or.....to clear the cmos all you have to do is this... with the computer turned off (not unplugged) refer to your motherboard manual and look for the clear cmos jumper and move the jumper from pin 1-2 to pin 2-3 (this is correct 90% of the time) and then put it back on pin 1-2....then power up it should boot fine..

cheers!

I don't seem to be getting this, let me see if I have it straight... w/ the power off I'm suppose to move the jumper, than power on again. Then power off, move the jumper back to its original position and then power on again? (I can't control the power with the pc switch so I'm turning the computer on and off by switching the power supply on and off).

if you just changed something in the bios that made the computer stop working then clearing the cmos definately will work....and yes you just move the jumper and move it back to clear you dont have to turn on and off.....you can try removing the battery if this for some weird reason doesnt work but it should.....

Alright, after removing the battery, resetting the jumpers, etc... a couple of times and then pumping the on/off switch for a bit I finally got the computer to boot. Thanks for both of your help! =)
