Hi, I'm having trouble starting the game..
After i start it, I get an error saying "To run this application, the resolution of the screen should not be less than 800x600"..
I have done all things nessesary to run in XP.. Changing compatibility and downloaded the latest patch (v1.2).
I don't know what it is, if its my widescreen, my graph gforce 8600 GT or dualcore.. Please help me, i love this game to much :p

My bet is the widescreen resolution is giving it fits.

I just recently reinstalled Mechwarrior 4 Mercs only to discover that I had to jump through more hoops than a circus lion to get it to work on my current computer. At least without everything being fat and ugly.

After 1 official patch, 3 unofficial patches, a registry edit, an uninstall, reinstall, repatching, and tweaking I finally got it to work... mostly. The combat looks fine now, but the between missions screen is kinda funky.

Long story short, old games hate teh widescreenz

Hm, is there a way to make the w-screen "act" like a normal screen just to make the game work? just realized there was a window-mode for the game as well, thought it should work with that, but still it didn't =/

None that I know of.

Well... if you don't mind everything being short and fat and probably a bit ugly, you can set your resolution to 1024x768 in windows. That might work. If it doesn't then it probably isn't the widescreen causing the issue.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Download and use this patch:
http://telp.org/mm7/tavern/anyboard/posts/19648.html

Then right click on game executable and under Compatibility tab select "Windows 98/Windows ME" in "Compatibility Mode" Box

And make sure nothing is checked under "Display Settings"

Had same problem before doing the above, im running game fine under XP on a 24 inch Dell Widescreen...looks SWEET..

Good Luck
