This looks like a cool game, I'm going to try it out.

You should! It's currently my favorite MP game, and even after MANY hours, I still can't get enough of it.

My only complaint about those updates, is that everyone starts playing the class in question and any balance in a team is lost.
Not only that, but they only play to get the achievements, and go out of their way to do so, instead of playing normally and just have them achieved in normal play.

Medics stopped doing their jobs when the medic update arrived, and I suspect the same will happen here.
Usually, when you're a heavy and there's a medic behind you, you kind of count on him for support, and that worked out great for the most part up until the medic achievements arrived, where you couldn't count on anyone having your back. You'd be relying on a medic to fire up an uber, you go in, he sees an opportunity to get an achievement, goes after it and leaves you where you needed his services most.

Also, Valve should put some sort of limit of how many players can choose the same class in one team to help reduce the balance problem, IMO.
