Diablo 3 could this be?!!

According to the unofficial Diablo site diabloii.net tips and rumours coming from "reliable" sources point to the long awaited Diablo 3 being announced at WWI Paris 2008.

With this week's speculation over the Blizzard teasers, more and more reports in the media, and numerous tips coming direct us at IncGamers from reliable inside industry sources in the past 24 hours, we now have confirmation from inside sources to say that Diablo 3 WILL be announced on Saturday at WWI Paris 2008.

With that in mind, we would like to invite Diabloii.net readers to submit their questions for us to ask Blizzard.

This is extremely exciting for all of us here at Diabloii.net. For the past 10 years we have been supporting the Diablo community and to have something completely new to sink our teeth into is fantastic. We will be at the show on Saturday for the announcement and also the press conference which is directly after, so expect reports from the show floor live, interviews and much more.

It seems that "a game" will at the very least be announced at WWI. Not that we are surprised, but it's nice to get a confirmation by a slip (?) of tongue from Rob Pardo at DGC Paris. GamesIndustry.biz reports that:

In a question and answer session that concluded this year's GDC Paris, Pardo was asked directly if he could talk more about "the new game" that rumours have strongly suggested will be Diablo 3.

"So you want me to announce the game before our announcement?" he said. "No offense, but I think there's like 300 people here, and I'll be ripped apart by 8000 people there [at the Invitational] if I pre-announce it - but it's going to be really exciting. I think everybody here will be really excited about the announcement."


Now, that doesn't mean that it will be a Diablo 3 announcement, but there is more information on why it will be Diablo 3 here.

Wow, this would be sick...no offence to Starcraft fans...but Diablo IMO is the biggest title Blizzard could ever bring back. I'll be following up with this on Saturday.

There's an interesting theory they have over at Diabloii.net regarding the naming scheme for the secret images:

At first they though the numbers in the hidden images corresponded to the english alphabet, and until today it was looking like D, O, W could end up spelling DASHOW, one of the artists that worked on Diablo II (who coincidentally had a "purple walrus" as his sort of trademark), but now it's looking like the numbers from Lost.

This stands out to me quite heavily from the Lost wiki:

It has been revealed in The Lost Experience that these six numbers are the core values of the Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula designed to predict the end of humanity.

This isn't StarCraft II related, and Blizzard has no reason to have such an extensive teaser just to announce a release date for Wrath of the Lich King.

I haven't felt excited like this since Christmas when I was little. Crossing your fingers, hoping that they got you what you wanted, and I mean either way it's a free gift so it's awesome, but, you just hope deep down that it isn't some boring racing game

Inverted, reminds me alot of Arreat. Alot easier to make out the symbols too (especially on today's).

This one is so cryptic though, it seems like ice that is retreating and you can see a starry sky, or so it seems.. unlike the one leading to SC2, there was only so many guesses, I don't read any of the nutboy fan forums, and there's just still too much speculation for me. Maybe tomorrow's pic will be more revealing.

Still hoping it's D3 though.
