Just over the last couple of days when I turn on my monitor (cold) the screen flashes on and off and you can hear a laser sounding noise from inside a few times. It will do this for a few minutes until the monitor warms up (I guess?). It's never done this before and I haven't changed any settings recently.
Viewsonic GF775 17" Monitor (just over 1 year old)
Asus AGPV3800 TNT2 Video board
Res. is set at 1024 X 768 with large fonts. It's a little better if I change this to a lower setting it's fine. But I don't want 800 X 600 (sucks, maybe when I'm 80 and half blind)
Is this problem the monitor of the Video card?

I have the EXACT same problem with my ADI Microscan. Except that after a few weeks of that now it goes black whenever it wants, generally a few times a day. I suspect a problem with the relays used for changing resolution (they are jumpoing on their own)
