Some quick questions to help us help you...

What are your system specs? (i.e. model of processor, motherboard, graphics card, memory)

When did you last update your drivers? Do you know the version numbers?

What are your system temperatures?

Are you noticing any other strange behaviour from your PC? (Odd sounds etc)

Are any other programs effected, or just Half Life?

What operating system are you running? Have you got the latest patches / service packs for it?

I think he's referring to the fact that your PC isn't particularly powerful and is suprised that it manages to even run XP, never mind Half Life. :D

Try and find an old version of the game, a version that is on a CD and has not been updated. It could be that your computer has broken and cant take a bit of stress.
