Well on Softpedia they release the Gameplay Trailor which is beyond what anybody could of expected. Unlike other Games I have played all of the Blizzard Games to full and I'm sure this will be no exception.

I went looking for this thread, I couldn't believe it wasn't on the front page yet...

In one word, THANKYOUJESUSITSABOUTTIMEIAMSOF'NHAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't like Diablo 1. Three classes, and the engine just looked bad. D2 (and LoD) however I have played many times. My wife and I still fire up a network game every now and then. I didn't believe D3 was coming seeing as WoW is so close to the diablo series. (besides, SC2 was coming, I didn't think they would put out two big games like that.)

Not only did we get the announcement, but game play footage as well. Any one have any clue as to when we might see this?

My guess, early 2010. I expect there will be just about a year between the releases of SC2 and D3

Honestly, the graphics did not really impress me. They aren't bad, but they aren't exactly mind blowing either. Which honestly, is probably a good thing because it means it will run on more systems.

I was kind of disappointed to see that the looting system is pretty much the same. I would rather see automatic distribution of goodies or a need/greed roll system similar to WoW.

I would say that while I am looking forward to it and I will almost definitely buy it, it is far from the top of my list. There are so many awesome new games on the horizon that this one is little more than a blip on the radar right now.

I have to second that. I hated the loot system in Diablo 2, particularly in big groups -- as a melee-oriented character I found it difficult to get loot compared to the more "hands-off" characters like the Necromancer or Sorceress who could just tap a spell occasionally and otherwise run around picking stuff up. It used to drive me nuts to have another player following me around picking up everything that dropped while I was still zeal-locked or otherwise occupied trying to keep my character alive.

The graphics aren't anything spectacular, but I can live with them if the gameplay is good.

I had the opposite experience, the pallys and barbys were picking up all the loot while my amazon was in the back row providing cover support.

I guess it just comes down to which players are the most selfish.

Auto-distribution would fix the problem very well.

It's still definitely a buy, but I don't think it will be a rave.

As I have watched live all of the developer panels on D3 at WWI08, the answer is:
the devs explained that the looting system won't be the same, the bosses/mobs will drop different loot for each player, that other players will not be able to grab. I don't like it that much tbh, and I can't find a real problem with D2 looting system, besides, you should be only letting rl friends or people you can kick the crap out of if they get your itemz!! :p

I'm just curious how exactly it will work. Will the gear drop, but can only be grabbed by certain members? Or will it only seen by you? Something about content that I only view on my end in a multiplayer game bothers me.
