Hey
I'm selling my processor, video card, ram, and motherboard to a friend, I want to know how much I should charge.
Also: has there been a substantial progression in Hard drive technology since summer 2000? (2 years ago) I wanna know if I should sell my HD also, or if I should just keep it for the extra 20 gigs.
specs:

Processor: Pentium 3 750mhz
Video Card: Asus v6800 (Geforce 256 DDR, 32meg)
RAM: 256 MB PC100
Motherboard: DTK ECsomethingrather. Just give me a really broad approximate for the mobo, it's not a known brandname or anything..just a standard P3 board.
HD: 20 gig. 7200 RPM

I'm a canuck, so if you can give it to me in CAD that'd be great, if not, gimme USD and I'll do conversions myself.
Thx in advance.

*puts on my evil hat*

it really depends how good a friend he is, how much spare cash he has, how knowledgable computer wise he is and finally how evil you feel at the time.

if he has loads of cash, knows nothing about computers, and he isnt a very good friend then you can sell it for 4 times what its really worth, putting all that cash towards your new Uber rig

so sayeth the Hamster.

As for the hard drive, such items do make nice additional space for MP3 storage and the like, but dont even consider using it as your primary drive.

My tech advice here is not free. Email your credit card detials to mynic@hotmail.com

My estimate is less than flamethrower's.
$165
I don't put a lot of value in used hardware.
I see it as once you drive a brand new car off the car dealer's lot it's lost 50% of it's value.
That's just my opinion.
When I sell used hardware to friends and co-workers they know I sell it for less than what it's worth.
For instance I sold my old P4 1.6 Willy to a co-worker. I asked for $100 which is less than 1/3 of what I paid for it. He gave me $140 for it because he knew I wasn't trying to rip him off. I have sold hardware to him a half dozen times all in top condition and I have built a system for him and helped him fix his old system. So having a good reputation has it's rewards.
BTW I am Canadian.

If he is a really good friend, give it to him. He will appriciate it
and one of these days you will get a lot more in return.

I am a Scot. Scary. Huh?
