I'm getting stuttering or freezing while i'm playing Oblivion. I'm well aware of the phenomenon of "micro-stuttering" but i do not believe that is my problem. Rather than a lot small pauses i'm experiencing 4 to 5 second stops. The game and everything comes to a full stop and resumes after this time period. Any ideas?

looking at your sig, that is odd. what settings do you play it at?

not sure why you opted for the gfx setup, but i assume you got a good deal.

i can only assume at this drivers difficulty as your ram looks plentiful although a memtest would clear any suspicions. also, is there any hard drive thrashing going on?

what happens running only one card?

I'm currently playing on a 19inch widescreen, 1440x900.

I started with one card and then got the other. budget in a constant problem, but i will be moving on to either a GTX 280, 4870, or 4850CF/X2. depending on what the best deal is. :)

When i was running with one card i didn't have these problems, and memtest came up clear. and whats hard drive thrashing?

thanks for replying. Also i do not think its a sound card issue as i have Creatives Xtreme Gamer card, but anything is possible.

Would i be better off reinstalling?

Let me also add something else.

while i'm sneaking around, and it doesn't seem to matter where, my screen will unexpectedly go black. And this only happens while i'm sneaking. This didn't happen when i had a single card setup.

I didn't have these problems initially when i moved to an SLi setup. It's more of a recent development. Say the past couple of months.

do BOTH cards work by themselves? If so, then this problem is almost certainly a driver issue. not sure what you can do about this except wait for nvidia to release newer drivers or move to a single card setup, which should be sufficient for oblivion.
