Please Help.. is it dead mobo
If there is no hard drive activity (as if it's trying to load the OS) then it probably rules out a problem with the monitor or video card (ie, nothing is running using control from the board). If you had a memory problem you should get long repeating beeps (assuming you have on board piezzo speaker or external speaker connected).
Some boards used to be able to reset themselves by holding down a key when you power up. I know I had an abit board that used the insert key to do that if you overclocked your mobo into oblivion. Check the manual.
I would double check any cables, jumpers, and such. From there it may get expensive
Also, provide more details on your setup, and maybe you will trigger someones memory who has the same stuff.
I've had that happen. APM has shut off the CPU fan for power saving mode, and the CPU was blazing hot! Fortunately it survived, it was a PIII and had built in thermal overload protection.
