Hi I already have a list of parts for a £500 desktop that is going to be a general purpose pc but I am aiming for £500 so it will last a little bit longer before having to upgrade.
cpu: intel core i3 3220
motherboard: gigabyte ga-z77p-d3
ram: 2x4gb 1600mhz corsair xms 3
psu: corsair cx430
case: antec one
hdd: seagate barracuda 1tb
ssd: kingston ssdnow v+200 60gb
dvd: lite-on ihas124
os: microsoft windows 7 home premium 64-bit
monitor: lg e1942c
gpu: I already have a saphire radeon hd4850
All this adds up to £501.03
for more detail: bit.ly/1244Sb6 and look at page 2.
I don't mind if the components are from different shops as you can tell from above.
An intel cpu would be preferred but if an amd if better for less that is fine.
if it was quiet that would be nice also but the silencio 550 is too expensive to fit these other components in.
I don't need another graphics card as the hd 4850 is adequate for what I use it for
Thanks

You do not need a Z77 mobo for that cpu, also you are focusing too much on not needed parts and forgetting the essential ones,
Ill make a build now.

That's my suggestion, if you're determined not to get another gpu. The 4850 is quite old though, and might struggle with modern games.

the 4850 may be old but it provides performance for what i need at the moment and i can upgrade in the future.
I had a geforce gt 7600 gt about a month ago but it was slow

Here is an updated version of what I had before but this version is aiming at £585

CPU: Intel Core i3 3220 £87.80
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 650 1GB oc £74.40
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H £61.61
RAM: Corsair XMS 2 X 4GB 1600 MHz £32.37
PSU: Corsair CX430M £37.38
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB £48.75
SSD: Kinston SSDNow V+200 £50.86
Case: Xigmatek Asgard 382 £30.66
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 home premium 64-bit £76.98
Optical drive: Samsung 224BB £13.99
Monitor: HANNS.G HL229DPB £89.56
This totals at £604.36 which is £19.36 over my budget but only around £20!

The reason I chose the £585 budget is that how much my previous pc cost but as it was pre-built (www.arbico.co.uk) I have more room in this one as building myself I with the components listed above I save about £150 from prebuilt. If there are any components I can take from this old pc please tell me.

CPU: Intel Core2Duo e6420
GPU: Palit Geforce 7600gt 256mb
Motherboard: Gigabyte 945GCMX-S2
RAM: Kingston 2 X 1GB 667Mhz DDR2
PSU: Winpower 450W
HDD: Maxtor SATA 250GB 7200rpm
Case: some silver case
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista home premium 32-bit
Optical drive: NEC ide DVD burner
Monitor: HANNS.G HU196D

Thanks for anyone’s time who looks at this, I do appreciate it is a bit long!
