I am stuck between the AMD FX-8350 CPU (8x 4.00GHz/8MB L2 Cache) or Intel® Core™ i5-3570K Pro as far as processors go and can't decide which one would suit better. I am looking to build a gaming pc in which i can try to play mostly on max settings. Games like Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite, FarCry 3, basically big games like that. If the system I am trying to build can't do max settings at good FPS then I am willing to play on ultra. I want to marry one of those processors with the AMD Radeon HD 7970 - 3GB or a NVIDIA graphics card obviously. However I don't really know what would be the best competition to the 7970. I am looking to only spend around or under 1400$.

For gaming get the i5-3570k, it's a better cpu for it, the FX-8350 might outperform a bit the i5-3570k in editing, but in gaming the i5 outperforms the amd cpu.

Either cpu is a good choice .
At 1080p resolution the difference between the two will not be noticeable . One or two frames at most .

And what about for a graphics card? is the 7970 good or is there something else I should be looking into?

The 7970 is a good card, if you want an amd gpu, there's the 670 gtx from nvidia, if you want a nvidia cpu, but the 7970 has a slightly better performance and offers two free games(crysis 3 and bioshock infinite).
I would go with the i5-3570k as the cpu for it.

And is there a better motherboard than others? Or do you just decide the motherboard depending on the other things you get? That's another thing I am confused about.

The asrock z77 extreme 4 is a good motherboard for the i5-3570K.

the asrock z77 extreme 3 is pretty good too, same quality as the 4 but less bells and whistles.

And the last question I have is about RAM. Is it better to have 8 gb DDR3-2133 Memory Module or a 16 gb DDR3-1600 Memory Module

For gaming, 8GB is suffice, games don't use more than 8GB, so just get a dual channel kit of 8GB(2x4GB) at 1600 mhz, and rated between 1.35v-1.5v(no more than 1.5v).
The speed difference is negligible in gaming too.

build your own .

you get a better system and you get it on time

B75 motherboards are for business users and the very small radiator on that watercooler suggests its not even as good as a moderate air cooler

Build your own, than you can take some real pride in it once it is done and sitting under your desk :D  Go 3570k, 7970 for sure
