Hi there.

I am looking to have a system built for the sole use of a high spec PC for HD video editing within Sony Vegas 12. This is my job, so needs to be up to the task in the best way possible. My budget is around £1200. This is a spec someone posted online which is a bit over budget, I need to shave around £300 off. Where am I best saving money, without impacting the speed too much? Any enhancements you would make? What is the best value Graphic Card to use? How is this best used once the machine is up and running? Does anyone have a better spec for me to use?!

I hope you can help, thanks! (prices are a week or 2 old, some parts can be sourced a little cheaper)

Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL10 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Kit £70.00
Corsair Graphite CC600TM PC Case microATX 4x 5.25 external 4x USB 2.0 1x USB 3.0 £134.99
Asus P9X79 PRO Motherboard £197.05
Intel BX80619I73930K Core i7-3930K (3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo), Socket 2011, 12MB L3 Cache) £444.40
EVGA GeF GTX 670 2GB GDDR5 Graphic Card £290.75
Crucial CT256M4SSD2 256GB m4 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s (SATA III) Internal SSD £149.50
Corsair TX650V2 Enthusiast Series 650W TX ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze PSU £67.10
Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Red £57.60
Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive £73.30

If you need to shave off some, get the i7-3770K and a 660 ti, the 660 ti is the sweet spot card for that purpose.
My suggestion :

Thats great, thank! So, the 660 ti is the best for that kind of budget? If I was to spend more, is there something that woud suit me better? I dont want to cut corners if for a little more I will GET much more!

As you can tell, im a bit of a NOOB, is there much different in SSD cards? Again, I dont want to fall short for the sake of £20. If I spend another £200, could I get much better?!

Thanks!

"Summary

Everything we've said about the Kepler architecture in past stories applies to GeForce GTX 660 Ti as well. It’s a great architecture for gaming, but tends to underwhelm in compute-intensive workloads with very few exceptions."

What im looking to do IS compute-intensive, so doesnt look like their favorite

It's video editing, if you see the benchmarks the 660 ti only gets surpassed by the 680 gtx, marginally, the 660 ti is good enough for what you need, unless you want a workstation card, but for video editing it's more than enough.
