Basically, I'm very happy with my build, but £1300 is slightly steep for me. I have been looking around for cheaper parts but I don't want to compromise much performance. I'm hoping to bring this build down to around £1100.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Side notes:
- I require a high wattage power supply as I may want to SLI in the future, however, recommendations will still be appreciated.
- I've been looking at monitors for about a week now and one looks to be a great quality money and however expensive it is, it does seem to be great for it's price. I'm very much new to buying monitors and computer components in general though, so recommendations would be great.
- I don't really want to substitute my CPU or GPU at all. I'm very content with these two components.
- The reason I have such an expensive case is because I am a sucker for aesthetics. If anybody knows any cheaper cases that also look nice, could you please recommend some.

Regards.

Are you planning on doing any overclocking?

Well i mean you dont want to substiute the cpu or gpu you said. So throw out the ssd and that motherboard is quite a bit. a asrock z77 extreme 6 is perfect

The whole build is basically for some hands on experience building computers. I've also learnt a lot more about components.
I will be overclocking after a month or so, mainly for the experience.

I've just got my first job in I.T. and I'm trying to get as much experience as possible.

(That said, I do want the PC for gaming, I just thought building it myself would be fun and educational.)

could always get a little bit cheaper monitor. like this.

Changing the overpriced motherboard and monitor like the others said will pretty much bring down the cost to your liking.

And you could bring it down a little more if you traded motherboards and switched to the i5-3570

switching from 3570k to the non k version just makes a difference of 6£ which is not worth it to lose the option to oc.. and the price for the monitor you suggested is not included in the build..
February 1, 2013 7:18:40 PM

These folks are helping with the price - I'd like to help with the noise. Highly recommend getting a GPU with a non-reference cooler (i.e. get one with two or three fans). Mine has the same style cooler as the link and it's stupid loud under load.

Try a Gigabyte Windforce or similar.

There, Added the i5-3570k back, since it really wasnt saving much money and the option to overclock is good to have. Got a monitor that price shows up.
