Asus M378 Pro with quad core 2.3 ghz w/ Radeon HD7850

now I know this mobo and cpu are very outdated and I've already resolved to upgrade them very soon, but I found a great deal on this graphics card that I couldn't pass up.

I'm upgrading from an ancient Radeon HD 4800 series so I'm wondering if my current mobo will be compatible with the new card (I understand it would be severely bottlenecked by cpu.)

I use my system for WoW mostly and with the current card I run everything on lowest settings. I know the cpu is severely outdated and is just as important as gpu for mmo style games. My main question is: Will my new Radeon HD 7850 be compatible with my current mobo until I upgrade? Can I expect any improvement to graphics?

Thanks.

  1. It's possible to "upgrade" but it'll be a huge bottleneck, talking about 40-55 frames lost.

you mean from where I'm at now? cause i see 40, sometimes 50 fps on wow with low settings in less populated areas.
Or do you mean 40-55 fps less than what the new card is potentially capable of?
  3. *bump*

  4. lame sight... looked promising but posted a question and got vague answer. probably a little nitwit anyways.
