GPU or PSU issue?

Just a week ago when i turned on my UPS, my pc started making a weird buzzing noise but stopped when i turned on the pc and it was running fine but now i am getting random restarts, freezing and bsod's while playing some games like Borderlands 2, Far cry 3, Need for speed most wanted and planetside 2, i can play most of the games fine for hours or just few mins and the pc runs completely fine when i am not gaming and when it restarts, my pc keeps repeating that at Windows loading untill i turn it off and turn it on after a few seconds.

So is my psu having problems or the gpu is dying?

PC Specs
AMD Phenom II X6 1055t
Asus M4a78lt-m le
8 GB DDR3 Ram
Sapphire Radeon HD 6670
Corsair TX850W PSU

My psu is just 6 months old and i was using a 5870 before which died and i got this 6670 from a friend for few months till i can get a new GPU and i know that the motherboard does not support 125W CPU's but it was running fine for atleast 2 years but i will get a new one in few days.

I ran Memtest86 and did a stress test on my cpu for 1 hour and a burn in furmark test on my gpu and it didn't crash, it just happens when i am playing games
My cpu and gpu temps are 45 celcius at load and 63 gpu temp and all my drivers are updated and my motherboard bios too

I really hope someone can help me with this problem, its really annoying.

if you uplug the computer from the ups do you still have the issue ,i would suspect the ups did you check the battery in it and what is the voltage it give at the outlet .

Sorry but i forgot to mention but the outlet where my ups was connected had some problems, when i turned on the ups, it started switching from battery to power for few seconds and then turned on and thats when my psu made that noise but that problem is now fixed, it doesnt make any kind of noise now but is it possible that my ups might have damaged the psu during that problem?

How do i check the voltages of my psu? i have speedfan but idk if i can trust the voltage readings on it
March 14, 2013 9:43:36 PM

the voltages seem to be okay

+3.3V 3.312V - 3.328V
+12V 12.038V - 12.099V
+5V 5.018 - 5.018

I guess its my gpu that is causing the problem then? also i have noticed that my cpu clock speed is acting weird, cpu-z shows 3.3 GHz and i didn't even do any overclocking

what you have for the cpu in hwinfo interface ?
March 22, 2013 1:18:34 PM

I bought a new motherboard, gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 and removed one of my ram module and now the crashing problem is fixed and it shows 3.3 ghz in hwinfo too but not when i run prime95, it just reaches 3.3 ghz for few seconds, anyways everything seems to be running fine so far.

did you try the new board with both ram stick ?
March 22, 2013 10:41:53 PM

not yet, btw this motherboard gets much higher temps then the old one while gaming, it reaches 47°C is that normal?
March 23, 2013 10:05:57 AM

these temp are read with the board monitoring or the hwinfo ,this is for the cpu or the motherboard itself .what case you have and how many fan for cooling you got and di you repaste the cpu when you put it back on the new board ?
March 23, 2013 2:27:13 PM

I have a Coolermaster Storm enforcer and i checked the temp in hwinfo, the motherboard temp increases only when i put load on my gpu and i didn't repaste the cpu, do i really need to? the cpu temps seem to be fine, hardly goes above 50 while gaming and 53 max temp when i run prime95
March 23, 2013 8:24:49 PM

we do that every time we remove the cooler from cpu clean the old paste and repaste.this is a good case with a good air flow and you temp are in the normal range .

whats the max temp for a motherboard? i hope its around 60 so i dont have to worry about anything, i live in india and its going to get very hot here in 2 or 3 months, i just wanna make sure it will be fine
March 24, 2013 1:00:26 PM

if it stay around 60 c on load your safe but if you could try to get case fan with better cfm power to reduce your temp and i would get a after market cooler for the cpu .

I have a Coolermaster Hyper TX3, i will try to get 2 more fans in my case
March 25, 2013 6:56:34 PM

that will be good a top one as exhaust and a side one as intake .
