Hi Community,

With all the hustle and bustle of the launch of the new forums, I'm wondering how the new News updates box work? I wanna know how I can clear out the box as the previous way way of doing so (clicking the link of a thread with a new post)? Also, is there any way to filter out updates from the comments section? I don't really follow news comments and prefer to focus on forum threads.

Thanks!

If you check the "Unread answers only" checkbox, clicking the links should eventually clear out the box, unless you've got some with bad links (I've got one about the ASRock H87 and Z87 boards that currently leads to an http 500, so it remains in the box). They might soon add some options for including or excluding news comments, but I haven't found any.

Thanks, that did shoo away some old threads I followed but there are some persistent threads that remain. Best if I cut the devs some slack and let them do their work, although I do hope they do something about the comments updates in the box. I mean, i could live with it, but it wouldn't be an ideal life.

I had to give it some time (about 30 mins). I eventually closed out the browser and logged in again. After that the threads worked right. Still need a way to stop following the thread.

have you tried the "mark all as read" link that you can find here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/followed.html

Regarding news comments threads, they are considered like any other thread. If you want to manually stop following a thread, you can use the "Stop tracking this thread" link below the 1st post of each thread

We're bumping into the occasional 404 error here and there, and hoping to get these resolved in short order. Please bear with, and do pardon our dust. :)
