Hi guys,

Just listing all the changes and questions I have on the new platform. Not trying to complain or anything, but there are a few things to get around.

-Where are the legacy badges?

-How do you see your "rank"?

-What is the "Ask the Community" tick box when creating a new thread?

-How do you delete a post or thread? So far I haven't seen any option to do so

-(This one I always had) What is a spoiler?

-What is the difference between following and tracking a thread?

-Threads which are stickied or solved aren't as noticeable as before

-Best answers aren't as noticeable before (not full highlighted)

-I thought it was mentioned the 2000/NT and 95/98/ME forums were going with this release of the forums (maybe I was wrong)

If I notice or want to ask anything else, I'll be sure to post back!

Thanks for your help :pt1cable:

"What is the "Ask the Community" tick box when creating a new thread?"
You used to have the option of posting a question or a discussion. Now it defaults to discussion unless you say otherwise. Apparently.

"How do you delete a post or thread? So far I haven't seen any option to do so"
You may not have that ability at this time.

"-(This one I always had) What is a spoiler?"
In a gaming or movie forum, a spoiler is discussion about content that a reader might not have seen yet. You as the reader might not want to have the ending spoiled for you. So, the poster can HIDE the content discussion until someone clicks on it. Or, in the title, they may warn about spoilers in the post.
It has no real use on this forum, but sometimes people use it to be cute.

-Where are the legacy badges?

The legacy badges are to be added shortly , next day or so , don't worry they have not gone away.

How do you see your "rank"?

Again this feature also will be added along with the badges , you have to realize that there is a priority of which things will be added first and the actual forum sections needed to be first along with all the questions and answers.

-How do you delete a post or thread? So far I haven't seen any option to do so

When you submit an answer to a thread you do have the option to delete that answer and it's right next to the PM option below your avitar , I haven't seen an option to delete the whole thread and don't know if your will have that option and you can always alert the moderators to do that.

-Threads which are stickied or solved aren't as noticeable as before

They may not be as noticeable but you can see them in a few ways and they have gone for a more subtle look

Please remember that if everything were to be the same then there would be no sense to launch a new platform. Because you were so used to the old forum it may take a little while to get used to the new one and in no time you will start to feel like it's normal. A young person like yourself should be able to adapt to change a lot quicker then an old person like myslef. Older people tend to not like change.

Yes, I do understand that. Thanks for replying.

Another thing, is the number of posts for each user back to 0 since the new platform was released?

This is linked to the badges update. Joe said that this will be back during the week.

Yup yup - post count will update once the badges system has been loaded. No worries, your epic post counts have been preserved!

I also find the new interface to be really cluttered. Anyone else think the same?
March 12, 2013 9:18:45 AM

In what way? I think that because they wanted to add a lot of features to make the forums more usable , it makes it feel cluttered? I think once you get used to the added features you may find that it makes using the forums easier. Who knows they may feel that some things may not actually be a good thing and get rid of them but that will come over the first couple weeks of feedback to get a feel on how everybody adapts to the new system.

On your profile.

No such thing as rank now, though you can select a status you'd like to show based on the badges that you have. You can do this under your profile.

Quote:
What is the "Ask the Community" tick box when creating a new thread?

Checking the tickbox makes the thread a "Question", which means it can have a Best Answer set for it. All others are Discussions, which have no right or wrong answer.

You don't. Moderators have the power to delete posts and threads. If you post a duplicate, you can alert a mod to request a deletion.

What is a spoiler?

At the end of the movie, Titanic, we find out that:
Spoiler
The ship sinks. Surprise! That's a spoiler.

Same thing, really.

There are others in the Forum Feedback area who are complaining about how gargantuan the Sticky threads are now. I think we've struck a solid balance here.

The green highlight doesn't work for you? We might consider changing it up a bit in the future.

Nope, still have a lot of users looking for help in those areas, believe it or not. Though, we may shunt these based on use and user favorites at some point from the forum home page.

hey guys, what is 'general billboard' for example i have 22 best answers in graphics but at general board it is only 13.
March 23, 2013 12:36:00 AM

The Genral Billboard shows the top users in each section.

You have 108 BA's in Graphics section, not 13. The ++ badge is legacy from the old platform.
March 23, 2013 10:24:19 AM

It may take the general billboard a short period of time to update with any of your latest information.
