Yesterday, my computer of 7 years crapped out on me, so I thought that it was a good time as any to get a new computer. I'm planning to build to save a little money. I have 0 experience at building computers, and my knowledge on computers in general is lacking as well. Since I don't really know much about all this, I'll just list a few points on what I'm looking for.

-i'm looking to spend $700 at most, but i'd rather it be somewhere around $500-$600
-most of what i'll be doing is browsing the web, listening to music, and watching videos (usually 720p)
-i'll be playing games on occasion, but only older games like those on the source engine (this is only a benchmark)
-2 drives with at least 100 gigs on each and a good amount of ram (i don't know how much is "a good amount" exactly, but a friend told me that 4 gigs should be enough for what i plan to do)
-i'll be keeping my speakers and monitor (if need be, i'll specify what models they are when i get home)
-something that doesn't overheat during the summer
-i'm hoping the parts ship quickly too

What are parts that you guys recommend for this, and how much do you think this would cost? If I need to specify further, then tell me. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, and thanks for any help you guys can give.
