The story is
I renamed the partition before I started a system restore.
Some of the partitions were blanked out after the restore.
How do I recover the partitions?
I tried testdisk and minitool data recovery.
testdisk is too dangerous, I don't want to use that.
Minitool took ages to complete, typically 20+ hours, which I want to shorten the length of time of recovery, how do I recover, by simply undo and rename again?
Thanks
Jack

Hello Richman,
I originally saved a complete windows 7 image in a spare drive.
Then, I re-labelled the partition name, and somehow my computer was virused.
I tried to recover my PC with that image, and the 2 partitions that I renamed were blanked out.
Let me know
Thanks
Jack

I was using MS system restore and I renamed an, what you call it, extended partition. Just not primary, some partitions that stored plain data. The name of the partition was called Pictures and Documents and I renamed it to Pictures. Now it is all empty. I did a format actually during system restore.
Thanks
Jack
