New build from the research I have done I believe this will work out fine

g.skill ripjaws 12gb 1600mhz tri channel ram
and the mobo is ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3

Im not sure if my mobo or cpu will run the 1600mhz trichannel can anyone clarify this for me ?

also I will be over clocking the processor to about 4.5 GHz do you think this will be safe with the mobo I have heard that it cant handle heavy ocing.

No this mobo does NOT use 3 channel RAM. It uses dual channel RAM. You can look at the manual at the ASRock website.

AFAIK the channel rating of the mobo is as important as the controller on the CPU. First gen i7s were triple and sandy was dual and quad pumped, but they had to be matched to a Mobo that was the same. If you put that RAM on your board it will work, but be slower than dual channel RAM.

You will be able to use the RAM in dual channel configuration. If you buy another matched RAM chip you will be able to have it run as 16 GB in dual channel.
