Hybrid HDD SSD DRIVES

I don't know anything about these hybrid drives. Can anyone tell me if this is worth while? I want to use it in a desktop PC.

  1. Considering you can get a WD 1TB black edition and a 60gb SSD for the same price I think I would consider the options carefully and read many reviews.

    Ah good call.
  3. I found it odd that they dont even list the size of the ssd which is only used for caching, so you have no direct controll over what gets the SSD benefit.
IIRC its only 4 or 8 GB.

I personally would rather have direct control over a much larger drive esp at the same price point.

Well, the SSHD I was considering more for simplicity sake than for control or cache size. I'll be selling the pc or letting a family member use it and either way a multi-drive system is still not something most people are familiar with dealing with. So a 1 TB drive that will give SSD performance a good portion of the time seemed like a good size to performance compromise for simplicities sake.

But as you said, it doesn't make a lot of sense cost wise.
