robinmishra :
hi,
My name is robin, and i am Graphic, 2d & 3d designer. At present i have Dell SP2309W 2048X1152 resolution monitor. Know i am thinking buy a new monitor
so recently i Baruch online that dell ultrasharp u2312hm is good monitor other size 24, 27 & and 30 inch are available but they are expensive compare with 23.
so i want to know that
1. did dell ultrasharp u2312hm(1920x1080) is batter than SP2309W(2048x1152)?
2. My GPU have DP port that available on dell ultrasharp u2312hm does make good different between DVI vs DP?
3. Or I shall Wait for Price down 27 inc monitor, or other brand?
1. The U2312HM has a lower resolution than the SP2309W (1920x1080 vs. 2048x1152) but is an IPS panel which gives you wider viewing angles and better color reproduction.
2. DisplayPort and DVI are both digital interfaces and image quality will be identical between the two. The only time you will get better picture quality from DisplayPort vs. DVI is if you are running monitors in excess of 2560x1600 and exceed the bandwidth of dual-link DVI cabling. Your 1920x1080 and 2048x1152 monitors are nowhere near those limits.
3. If you are going to wait, wait for something with significantly higher resolution like the 27" 2560x1440 units (currently about $650) or 30" 2560x1600 units (about $1000) to come down in price or to save up and get one. Or if you really like to wait, wait for 4K (3840x2160) monitors to drop from $30-50k and pick up one of those.
hang-the-9 :
Well, better image quality is not equal to more screen space. What you will get with the ultrasharp series is better and richer colors and higher viewing angles. If you are trying to fit more on the screen, you would want to look for a large and higher resolution monitor. Although 1920 vs 2048 is too small to notice.
Better image quality is a product of better color representation and a higher pixel density. For color quality, IPS panels are the best and are equal to slightly better than MVA/PVA panels. All are considerably better than TN panels. Also, TN panels and possibly MVA/PVA panels can't be rotated without the colors looking very off and ghosted while IPS panels can. Pixel density is roughly the same on most monitors at approximately 100 pixels/inch unless you get into professional displays or mobile device screens.
1920x1080 vs. 2048x1152 is only slightly noticeable unless you either do a lot of work with 1080p video or are using a dual-monitor setup with one of each resolution. Then you notice it quite a bit. I would recommend getting a second SP2309W and doing a multiple-monitor setup except that Dell discontinued the SP2309W a few years ago and so did the firms that made 2048x1152 monitors, so you will end up with two mismatched monitors. I am in that same boat; I got a SP2309W because it was the highest resolution monitor I could get for (well) under a grand. Now I can't find another one for a multi-head setup.
So with that being said, either keep the SP2309W or try to sell it and get *two* U2312HMs.
