The svchost refers to processes in the Pc that might require backward compatiblity. The more apps you have that aren't written specificaly for this OS, the more svchosts you will get, the same with the drivers. and program utilities.

Consider how many programs you have installed, whether you use onboard audio or graphics, how many hdd's, whether you use lan or modem, and other peripherals etc.

You have Firefox which would require a svchost service a will IE and Google.

The best way to beat the many processes is to have more ram, more than 25% free space, a good PSU with surplus power (not running at peak power during idle times) and to uninstall older programs and software (and games) not in use or require soe sort of compatibility mode.

Also consider to disable start up programs (from within their options of each program) so you do not have skype, messenger, itunes and whatever showing up in the taskbar at boot up to desktop. Clear the desktop of any files that are not shortcuts.
