Do motherboards automatically adjust CPU fan speeds?

I'm currently contemplating whether to attach my heatsink fans to the motherboard's CPU fan connector or my fan controller. I would like to connect it to my fan controller, but the convenience of my motherboard adjusting the speed depending on CPU temps would be a better option (even if it means having my CPU fans be louder than necessary).

My motherboard is a P8Z77-I Deluxe ITX board and my heatsink is a Phanteks PH-TC14PE, if that makes any difference.

You can enable in BIOS the CPU Q-Fan control and adjust the related settings or use the AiSuite Fan Xpert. If the fan connector is a 4-pin one, you can use either the utility in BIOS or the AiSuite application.

Most do. I suggest you connect the CPU fan to the motherboard.
