64 bit windows using 4gb out of 12gb ram

Having similar issues windows 7 reconzies that i have 12gb of ram. but only using 4gb my specs are
ASRock 970DE3/U3S3 AM3+ AMD 770
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL

Does it use only 4gb of RAM when gaming? Or while running something like this? http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft/

My usage goes from 3.3 to 4.84gb used (with nothing but skype, fire fox and prime95 running) and I've got 12gb installed on my Win7 x64


IMO I don't see what the issue is if windows isn't using a tonne of RAM, if it isn't wouldn't that be a good thing?

Have you considered using a RAM disk?
