Now I'm not saying I want a huge boost here, but maybe even like a few % just to give me smoother looking gameplay.

its unlikley unless your motherboards bios allows it. heat will kill a system very quickly and if it doesnt it will cause throttling if you get to close to the thermal limits. so no mate dont overclock your laptop. you could try disabling power saving features and that in itself should give a boost.
