CPU fan running constant

For the last couple of days, my CPU fan has been continuously running at full speed. I thought maybe my CPU was running hot so I downloaded a temp monitor and it says it's hovering right around 42c. Any idea what would be causing this? It's loud as hell and sarting to worry me.

run speedfan/OpenHardwareMonitor and check if the fan rpm is jumping or not. If it is not, get into BIOS and check whether cpu fan management is set to Auto. If you can't locate the setting, load BIOS defaults and check again.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I should also mention that this just changed in the last few days. It hadn't been a probem before and I haven't made any hardware changes recently.
