I have a laptop running windows vista, when i type into any sort of program i find the small cursor which shows where you are typing, has moved somewhere else, the text ends up a right mess and takes a lot of sorting, even this message has had to be changed 5 times, does seem to be better when typing slowly, almost as if the PC can't handle if faster typing. I'm a middle aged guy so most will know we don't generally type too fast.

In about 99% of these cases, the person with the issue is using a laptop with a touch pad and is not watching where his palms are. The other 1% of the cases, I have not seen yet.

If you are not on a laptop, make sure you are not hitting any other keys while typing.

I'm having the same problem and I'm on a desktop. Thought keyboard was bad so bought a new one. Dell with Windows 7. Have tried defragmenting etc. I will type a sentence and it will move the last half of the sentence to the front. I will type several letters and there will be a delay for a couple seconds and then they might show up on the screen.

What exact model of Dell you have, it could be virus, or something else using you RAM (memory) to the max.
Open Device manager when it happened (CTRL+ALT+DEL) select device manager and select there performance, look for the CPU and memory usage, are you near 100% during typing?

I thought I had answered yesterday but it's not here. I have a Dell Studio XPS CPU usage is 1% when typing. Physical memory is 8183 total, 2380 cached, 3872 free
processes 58 ?

That is weird, would you consider reinstallation of your Windows?
