You cannot chose the best asnwer unless you started the thread. Only Moderators can do that. No, it does not close the thread.

If you, yourself, have received at least five best answers, you are considered a forum resident veteran now able to set a Best Answer on a thread you are a participant in.

Is that reversible? Allowing just any user to select a best answer could prove chaotic if used in the wrong way...

Personally, I don't think that's the best idea. Maybe a something like a voting system, instead of one user selecting the best answer and then that's it... If you know what I mean.

It is definitely reversible if a user should select poorly, but as we've found with the Alert system, most of our users do the right thing and help. If it doesn't work out, we might consider revisiting it.

Is the best asnwer count also reset? Because in the old platform I had 72 in total, but now I have none.

so all our old best answers will return to our status?

ARICH5, if you look below Stealth's avatar, you can see that he took advantage of the chance to display the sub-Forum at which he has the most Best Answers. That's a visible sign to posters asking questions in Windows 7 that his advice is worth having. When the new Badges system is fully up and running, you may care to do the same.

What kind of distinction are you looking for? You now have your badges , post count and best answers back and you have chosen to display the Graphics card badge as your status.
If your referring to the points system that we had and the veteren , addict and so on status then I'm sorry to say that the points system has gone away and replaced by the badge system for status. It's much better to be recognized for best answers and badges then it is for just points. Anybody can accumulate points by just posting answers but a better reputation can be for those with best answers and it stimulates people to try harder to give the person asking for help a better answer.

ok i see now..thanks.

are you guys working on getting the live updates working properly? ive got old posts in there from february...theyre not clearing even though ive read them.
March 15, 2013 7:11:47 PM

I haven't heard anyone complain about the live updates so it may be an isolated thing and if it doesn't sort itself out in a few days then post it again and we'll see if someone can help you.

If you have been banned then you would not be able to post in the forum. The whole purpose of the banning process is to prohibit that person from posting in the forum.
Why do you say you have been banned?

Yes, late the other night you were running rampant through the forums posting nothing much, swearing and generally being a nuisance. You were given a brief break at that time. As I recall it was 3 hours. Sometimes we all need a little time out.
