I own an hp dv6 notebook and it's actually still going pretty well, but thinking on reinstalling windows i absolutely don't want all the junk that came preinstalled office 2012 student, cyberlink stuff, norton trial... i don't want anything of those, i googled a lot about reinstalling using a windows 7 dvd like the msdn ones, but i can't find someone that actually did it. My concern is about the activation process, will it just activates or will i have to call microsoft?
I recently did a similar thing on an old toshiba notebook that had windows xp pro installed. It came with a recovery dvd with norton antivirus 2003 adobe reader 6 and a lot of old junk, fortunately it had an i386 folder on the root of the system drive with the xp sp2 files, so i made a bootable cd with that and i was able to get a clean and activated xp sp2.
Do i have to get an oem version of windows 7? Since the msdn ones are retail versions.
